This Privacy Policy describes how Boots of Travel ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use Simple, our TikTok companion application ("App"). We are committed to handling your data responsibly and transparently.

Simple is an independent application and is not affiliated with TikTok or ByteDance Ltd. This policy applies solely to Simple and does not cover TikTok's own data practices. Please review TikTok's Privacy Policy separately.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Information you provide

  • Account details (if you register within the App), such as name and email address.
  • Preferences and settings you configure within Simple.
  • Any feedback, support requests, or communications you send us.

2b. TikTok data accessed via API

When you connect Simple to your TikTok account via TikTok's official API, we may access certain TikTok data you authorize, which may include:

  • Basic profile information (username, display name, avatar).
  • Content metadata (video titles, view counts, engagement metrics) for videos you own.
  • Follower and following counts.

We access only the data scopes you explicitly authorize. We do not access your TikTok password, payment information, or private messages.

2c. Usage and device data

  • Device type, operating system, and app version.
  • Feature usage patterns and interaction logs (anonymized).
  • IP address and general geographic region (country/city level).
  • Crash reports and performance diagnostics.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the core features of Simple.
  • To personalize your experience and remember your preferences.
  • To display your TikTok content and analytics within the App.
  • To diagnose bugs, improve performance, and develop new features.
  • To respond to support requests and communicate important updates.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your TikTok data for advertising targeting.

4. Data Sharing

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Trusted third parties that help us operate the App (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics), bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights or the safety of users.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may transfer to the new entity under the same privacy protections.

5. TikTok API Data Retention

Data retrieved from TikTok's API is used only to power the features you actively use within Simple. We do not store TikTok content (videos, audio) on our servers. Metadata and analytics data are retained only as long as necessary to provide the service, and are deleted when you disconnect your TikTok account or delete your Simple account.

TikTok API tokens are stored securely and encrypted at rest. You can revoke Simple's access to your TikTok account at any time via TikTok's Settings > Security > Apps.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, and access controls to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Withdraw consent for data processing at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

Simple is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we may have data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

9. Cookies and Tracking

The App may use cookies or similar technologies to maintain session state and remember your preferences (such as language/locale). We use anonymized analytics to understand how the App is used in aggregate. We do not use tracking technologies for cross-site advertising.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via the App or by email. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
